Veritas University Wins Inaugural NBA REC Tournament

Veritas University emerged as the champion of the inaugural NBA REC University Tournament, defeating the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) with a score of 41-36. The tournament took place at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Sports Center and featured eight university teams from across Nigeria, including UNILAG, Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), University of Ibadan, Lagos State University, Lead City University, and Afe Babalola University.

Following the group stage on the first day, Veritas, Afe Babalola University, UNIABUJA, and UNILAG advanced to the semi-finals. On the second day, UNILAG secured third place by defeating Afe Babalola University 57-50.

Anthony Chioke from Afe Babalola University was named the tournament MVP. The event included halftime activations such as fan giveaways and performances by Nigerian artists Taves and Samad.

The NBA REC is a recreational basketball platform aimed at enhancing university and community basketball experiences, organized in collaboration with Future Concerns Nigeria Limited and Munch It.
