Osimhen Declines Captaincy in Galatasaray Friendly Draw

In a pre-season friendly match held at the Ali Sami Yen Sports Complex RAMS Park, Galatasaray and Rennes played to a 3-3 draw. During the match, Victor Osimhen scored a goal from a corner kick delivered by Gabriel Sara.

A notable incident occurred in the second half when Abdülkerim Bardakcı, Galatasaray’s primary captain, was substituted in the 74th minute. He handed the captain's armband to Osimhen, indicating he wanted the Nigerian striker to lead the team for the remainder of the match.

However, Osimhen declined the armband and instead passed it to Yunus Akgün, suggesting he should captain the side. Akgün was surprised by this decision and tried to convince Osimhen to accept the armband, but Osimhen remained firm in his refusal.

Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk had previously expressed intentions to make Osimhen one of the club’s captains for the upcoming season following Mauro Icardi's departure. This incident has sparked discussions among Galatasaray supporters as the team prepares for the new campaign.
