Farmer Arrested for Alleged Murder in Cross River

Samuel Sunni Udoh, a 57-year-old farmer, was arrested by the Cross River State Police for the alleged murder of two individuals in Odukpani Local Government Area. The police received a missing person report on May 25 regarding Regina Akan Patrick, whose husband, Akan Patrick, had not returned from farming in the Okong Community.

Investigations led by ASP Sundai Eitokpah revealed that on November 2025, Akan Patrick and another youth, identified as Mr. Imoh, confronted Udoh over the demand for 14 bags of cannabis sativa.

The confrontation escalated, leading to an attempt to attack Udoh, who claimed he acted in self-defense, resulting in the drowning of the two men. The police spokesperson confirmed that Udoh was charged in court following the investigation, which also involved illicit cannabis cultivation.
