Defence Minister Warns Against Aiding Terrorists in Nigeria

On Monday, Chief of Defence Staff General Christoph Musa issued a warning regarding the consequences for individuals aiding terrorists, emphasizing that such actions would not be tolerated. This statement followed a Nigerian Air Force airstrike near Jilli Village in the Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State, which targeted known terrorist enclaves linked to the Islamic State West Africa Province.

Musa reiterated the military's resolve to eliminate banditry and insurgency across the country, stating that the armed forces are committed to intensifying operations against terrorist networks in the northeast. He cautioned residents against providing support or shelter to terrorist elements, as this could attract severe repercussions.

Despite reports of civilian casualties, including cross-border traders, Musa maintained that the operations were intelligence-driven and aimed at neutralizing terrorist threats. The airstrike was part of a broader military operation conducted on April 11, 2026, following sustained intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance missions.
