Catholic Bishops Provide Honest Assessment to Tinubu

Senator Orji Kalu, representing Abia North, stated that during a recent meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, members of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) presented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with a truthful account of the country's situation. Kalu, a former governor of Abia State, argued that the economic hardship and insecurity affecting Nigerians should not be attributed to Tinubu, as some politicians misrepresent the realities to the President.

The bishops raised concerns regarding the nation's economic conditions, security challenges, and political atmosphere. Cardinal John Onaiyekan, the Archbishop Emeritus of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, noted that Tinubu disagreed with the bishops' assessment, asserting that his administration is on the right path.

Kalu praised the bishops as the nation's conscience, stating that their advice is objective and crucial for any sitting President. He emphasized that the bishops understand the difficulties faced by Nigerians and that their engagement with Tinubu provided him with an honest assessment of the country's realities.
