El-Rufai Faces Court Charges Amid ADC Convention Plans

Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, arrived at the Kaduna State High Court to continue his trial related to allegations of corruption and abuse of office. He is facing multiple counts, including fraud and intent to commit fraud, with charges filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) involving a total of 579.6 million naira and 1.1 million naira.

El-Rufai, dressed in traditional agbada, navigated through a crowd of supporters and legal representatives before entering the courtroom. During his appearance, he spoke about the upcoming African Democratic Congress (ADC) convention scheduled for Tuesday, expressing hope for a positive outcome.

El-Rufai has consistently maintained his innocence regarding the charges against him. His legal battles continue as he returned from Cairo, Egypt, on February 12, 2026, after being released from ICPC custody on compassionate grounds.

The next bail hearing is set for April 14.
