El-Rufai Alleges Plot Involving Brother Amid Corruption Case

Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, has expressed alarm over a purported scheme to use his elder brother, Bashir El-Rufai, as a bargaining tool in a corruption investigation against him. This revelation came after Bashir's absence during their mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai's burial in Cairo, Egypt, which El-Rufai addressed in a viral video.

He suggested that Bashir's absence was a tactic to evade arrest linked to allegations of financial misconduct, including money laundering and abuse of office. El-Rufai's concerns were echoed by an African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain who spoke in Hausa.

Additionally, El-Rufai has called for swift action regarding a petition against Justice R.M. Aikawa, who is presiding over his corruption case, citing judicial misconduct.

El-Rufai faces 10 counts of charges related to corrupt financial practices, and his legal team expressed surprise at Justice Aikawa's assignment to the case despite the ongoing petition against the National Judicial Council.
