Outrage Over Public Execution of Suspect in Delta State

A video that emerged on social media depicts a public execution of a bound suspect by armed men, who are purportedly police officers, in Delta State. The 90-second footage shows the suspect pleading for his life while on the ground, addressing the armed men as "officers." He offers to provide information about his friends in exchange for mercy.

Despite his pleas, the armed men shoot him in the leg and subsequently in the head, all in broad daylight, with onlookers present. The incident occurred in the Effurun area and has triggered widespread condemnation online, with Nigerian citizens demanding the immediate arrest and prosecution of the personnel involved.

Activist Harrison Gwamnishu described the footage as disturbing, calling for police leadership to take action against such unlawful behavior. The Nigeria Police Force has acknowledged the incident and stated that an investigation has been initiated, with a tracking number provided for the case.
