Peter Obi Accuses Professors of Aiding Election Rigging

During the 2026 Goodluck Jonathan Foundation Democracy Dialogue held in Bauchi, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the 2027 Nigeria Democratic Congress, accused university professors of facilitating election rigging by illiterates in Nigeria. Obi expressed his disappointment regarding the alleged involvement of academics in undermining democratic values, stating that this reflects broader challenges facing the nation's democracy.

He recounted his own experience of contesting his election for three years, where he received favorable judgments from judges he had never met. Obi criticized the current situation in Nigeria, highlighting that lawmakers have removed forgery as an electoral offense and that Senior Advocates of Nigeria are defending such actions.

He also pointed out that religious leaders are praying for criminal politicians, indicating a crisis in the country's moral and judicial integrity.
