Peter Obi Calls for Democratic Action at Bauchi Dialogue

On Tuesday, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), addressed attendees at the 2026 Goodluck Jonathan Foundation Democracy Dialogue held at the Ahmadu Bello International Conference Centre in Bauchi. He emphasized the importance of Nigerians taking a definitive stance on the country's democratic trajectory, particularly in light of the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Obi expressed concern over the judiciary's negative influence on democracy, contrasting it with its historical role in upholding democratic leadership. He recounted his own experience with the judiciary, highlighting a former Supreme Court Justice's impartiality in his case as a model of judicial integrity.

Obi lamented the current state of the judiciary, suggesting that judges are influenced by political mandates rather than delivering justice based on merit.
