Peter Obi Accuses INEC's Yakubu of Election Bias

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), reiterated his allegations against Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), claiming that Yakubu worked in favor of the ruling party during the 2023 general election. In an interview on Arise Television, Obi stated that while Yakubu portrayed himself as acting with integrity on the global stage, his actions during the election suggested otherwise.

Obi expressed disappointment, stating, “We took things for granted in 2023. Not anymore,” and accused INEC of failing to conduct the election properly.

He emphasized that even Yakubu must be aware of the shortcomings in the electoral process, asserting, “Everybody knows that INEC did not do the right thing.” Obi concluded by indicating that he does not wish to meet Yakubu, as he believes the matter is settled for him.
