Oyo State Rescues 50 Abducted Pupils and Teachers

On May 15, 2026, gunmen abducted 50 pupils and teachers from Ahoro Esinl School located in Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State. Following a successful operation by security agencies, the victims were rescued and arrived at the Oyo State secretariat in Ibadan on Monday.

The arrival was marked by heavy security presence, including military personnel. A video shared by Oyo Affairs captured the victims alighting from a vehicle under armed escort.

Upon their arrival, the rescued individuals received medical treatment and psychosocial support at a military hospital in Ibadan. Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde visited the victims on Saturday.

Additionally, Sharafadeen Alli, a gubernatorial candidate from the Progressives Congress in Oyo State, visited the military hospital where the rescued pupils and teachers were being treated. Parents of the abducted schoolchildren expressed relief at the successful rescue operation.
