Tinubu Urges Plateau Leaders to Pursue Peace Initiatives

President Bola Tinubu has called on leaders in Plateau State to return home and initiate peace efforts, stating that the federal government is prepared to support genuine steps towards ending violence and restoring stability. During a meeting with Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the political leader and traditional rulers, Tinubu urged them to set aside divisions and work together to implement previous peace recommendations.

He emphasized the importance of addressing unresolved matters and encouraged leaders to return home to provide feedback and engage in reconciliation processes. Tinubu reiterated the need for state police to enhance law enforcement and security, arguing that decentralizing police would help address insecurity.

He also advised the state governor to lead renewed reconciliation efforts and suggested restructuring existing peace committees. Furthermore, he called for inclusivity in peacebuilding processes and public enlightenment campaigns to tackle discrimination and conflict.

Tinubu stressed that peace is essential for development and warned that progress cannot thrive in an atmosphere of fear and violence.
