UEFA has officially banned Gianluca Prestianni of Benfica for six matches due to a racist insult directed at Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior during a UEFA Champions League playoff match held in Lisbon. This incident occurred during the first leg of the playoff, which took place a week prior to the announcement.

Benfica released an official statement confirming that they received notification from UEFA regarding Prestianni's suspension. The ban was also attributed to the use of homophobic language during Benfica's Champions League tie against Real Madrid in March.

The playoff was marred by several troubling incidents, particularly the accusation against Prestianni for using a racist slur against Vinicius Junior. The return leg of the playoff is scheduled to be held at the Santiago Bernabeu.
