VP Shettima Applauds NAHCON for Successful 2026 Hajj

On Wednesday, VP Shettima received the Board and management of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and representatives from the State Pilgrims Welfare Boards at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The meeting was to discuss the recently concluded 2026 Hajj exercise and future projections.

Shettima praised NAHCON and the State Pilgrims Welfare Boards for their efforts, describing the performance during the 2026 Hajj as a model for future operations. He stressed the importance of adopting a sustainable model to ensure a 100 percent hitch-free pilgrimage experience.

Ismail Yusuf, the Chairman of NAHCON, provided a summary of the 2026 exercise and informed the Vice President about Saudi authorities' decision to transition to a business-to-business model, which involves private tour operators handling 98% of pilgrims. This shift aligns with the Saudi government's Vision 2030, while NAHCON will maintain its regulatory role.
