WANEP-Nigeria Launches Action Lab for WPS Monitoring

The West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP-Nigeria) has launched the UNSCR 1325 Action Lab and the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Localisation Monitoring and Assessment Framework to improve evidence-based monitoring and accountability in Nigeria's WPS agenda. Dr. Bridget Osakwe, WANEP-Nigeria’s National Network Coordinator, stated that this initiative is crucial for understanding and implementing the WPS agenda, highlighting Nigeria's commitments through various policies and civil society efforts.
The Action Lab aims to track and monitor WPS implementation, recognizing not only formal plans but also community initiatives. The WPS Localisation Monitoring and Assessment Framework will guide this process, fostering a shared approach to evidence generation among stakeholders.
Patience Ikpeh Obaulo, Head of Programmes at WANEP-Nigeria, emphasized the importance of documenting progress and identifying gaps. The initiative will also support the drafting of a shadow report for Nigeria, providing data for accountability.
