Tinubu Calls for Collective Fight Against Diseases in Nigeria

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu addressed traditional and religious leaders at a summit focused on health, asserting that the fight against diseases is a collective responsibility. He urged these leaders to engage youth actively to improve health outcomes in their communities.

The summit was part of the administration's efforts to rebuild trust in the health sector through transparent decision-making and action. Tinubu highlighted the importance of collaboration among state governors, local government chairmen, and stakeholders to enhance primary healthcare services nationwide.

He noted that the summit marked the foundation of a new national alliance for health, particularly aimed at reducing maternal and newborn deaths. Additionally, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu announced plans to launch a national community food bank program in April to address child malnutrition, which will operate through primary health centers to identify vulnerable families and provide nutritional counseling and food vouchers redeemable for locally produced food.
