World Bank Commissions Zulum's Educational Projects in Borno

The World Bank, represented by Country Director Mathew Verghis Mondai, has commissioned seven significant projects in Borno State, executed under the leadership of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum. These projects include the construction of three mega schools, a flyover bridge, and three dual carriageway roads, reflecting the state government's commitment to post-insurgency urban renewal and human capital development.

Mondai commended Zulum's leadership and reaffirmed the bank's commitment to supporting developmental initiatives in the state. The commissioned educational facilities comprise a 30-classroom government secondary school and a 30-classroom mega primary school in Maimusari, along with a 20-classroom command secondary school in Maiduguri.

Zulum noted that the insurgency had destroyed 5,000 classrooms, leaving 2.2 million children out of school. His administration has constructed 104 new schools and rehabilitated 2,931 classrooms, increasing student enrollment from 800,000 to 1.4 million by December 2025.
