Tinubu Government Accused of Genocide in Niger Delta, PANDEF Warns of Worsening Humanitarian Crisis

The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has accused the government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of perpetrating genocide in the Niger Delta region. According to PANDEF, the region is experiencing a dire humanitarian crisis characterized by decades of unchecked oil pollution and inadequate government intervention.

The group highlighted the devastating impact of oil exploration activities, including environmental damage, health risks, and economic hardship faced by residents. PANDEF criticized the federal government for its indifference and failure to compensate affected communities, leading to a deepening sense of anger and unrest in the region.

The group warned that the continued neglect of the Niger Delta would worsen the already dire situation and erode trust in the central government further. The spokesperson for PANDEF, Chief Ominimini Obiuwevbi, emphasized the need for the government to address the long-standing marginalization of oil-producing states and allocate funds from penalties imposed on oil companies for gas flaring to affected communities.
