Amaechi Calls for Security After Convoy Attack in Rivers

Rotimi Amaechi, a former Minister of Transport and registered member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), experienced an attack on his convoy by armed men in Ubima, Ikwerr Local Government Area, Rivers State, on Friday. The incident occurred around 12:15 PM when suspected thugs had already set up roadblocks to turn back vehicles identified as carrying ADC members.

The attack followed a previous incident where thugs set ablaze the ADC ward office in Ubima on Thursday night. During the attack, Amaechi's security team engaged the armed thugs, who fled due to superior firepower.

Amaechi praised the swift intervention of the Commissioner of Police and the Director of the State Services Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps during the incident. He insisted that such situations should not recur and urged the state governor to provide adequate security across the state to prevent anarchy, encouraging party members to mobilize for a presidential target.
