El-Rufai's Wife Appeals to Tinubu for Fair Treatment

Hajiya Asia El-Rufai, the wife of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, made an appeal to President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday, urging him to ensure her husband receives fair treatment amid his ongoing legal troubles. She stated that the family has endured trauma despite their support for Tinubu during the 2023 election campaign.

Asia emphasized that they do not seek political interference in the legal process but rather basic human rights guaranteed by the constitution. She expressed concerns over her husband's health, alleging that he has been denied adequate medical treatment while in custody.

Asia also mentioned that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has accused her husband's personal physician, Prof. Bello Abubakar, of making false statements regarding medical visits.

She called for the court to grant bail to El-Rufai, allowing him to prepare his defense adequately, and reiterated the family's desire for a fair trial.
