“We Found over 50 Bodies, We’re Still Searching for More,” Survivors of Katsina Mosque Attack Speak

Survivors of the deadly attack on a mosque in the Gidan Mantau community in Katsina state recounted the harrowing experience, revealing that over 50 bodies have been recovered with the search ongoing for more victims in the bush. The bandit attack, described as a reprisal, occurred during early morning prayers, leading to a significant loss of life.

The Katsina state government has deployed security forces to ensure the safety of residents and promised justice for the victims' families. The Chief Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, expressed concern over the escalating violence in Katsina and the North West region, acknowledging the challenges faced by the military in combating the banditry.

The death toll has risen to 55, with 34 confirmed by authorities. The attackers are reportedly using gold to finance their operations, highlighting the need for international collaboration to address the security crisis in Nigeria.
