Ndume Warns of Terrorist Threats in Borno State

Ali Ndume, the former Senate leader representing Borno South, has raised an alarm regarding the security situation in Borno State and the broader North East region of Nigeria, warning that parts of these areas could be lost to terrorist groups if urgent measures are not taken. Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, Ndume emphasized the need for the federal government to adequately equip the Nigerian Army to effectively tackle the ongoing insurgency and banditry.

His comments followed a recent visit to Ngosh Pulka, alongside Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, where they assessed the aftermath of coordinated attacks by Boko Haram insurgents in the Gwoza local government area. During these attacks, soldiers and community leaders were killed, and numerous women and children were abducted.

Ndume called for the federal government to double its efforts in providing sophisticated arms and ammunition to the military, as soldiers currently lack adequate resources. He praised Governor Zulum's visit to the affected communities and urged the federal government to support the state in rebuilding the devastated areas.
