Nigerians Protest Delays in Repatriation from South Africa

Nigerians stranded in South Africa staged a protest due to delays in the repatriation process after ongoing xenophobic attacks. The protest took place outside the Nigerian High Commission in Pretoria, where the demonstrators expressed their desire to return home, chanting "we wan go." The first batch of returnees was supposed to fly back to Nigeria on June 11, carrying 268 Nigerians, but nearly 600 others were left behind.

In contrast, citizens from Ghana, Zimbabwe, and Malawi have already been evacuated ahead of a June 30 deadline set for undocumented migrants to leave South Africa. The situation has raised concerns among the Nigerian community regarding their safety and the urgency of their return.
