Idoma Group Claims Police Ignored Attack Warning

The apex socio-cultural organization of the Idoma Nation, Ochetoha K’Idoma, alleged that they informed the Nigeria Police Force 48 hours prior to a deadly attack on Otukpo Nobi community in Benue State, but no preventive action was taken. This allegation was made in a rejoinder dated July 31, 2026, responding to a statement from the Benue State chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria regarding the security situation in Benue South Senatorial District.

Ochefu, and Secretary General, Chief Paul Edeh, expressed disappointment over the police's inaction despite having provided specific intelligence about the imminent threat. They called for accountability from police authorities and urged for enhanced security measures following new intelligence about armed groups moving towards Idoma land.

Ochetoha also criticized MACBAN’s account of recent attacks, asserting that over 50 heavily armed militia fighters were responsible for coordinated assaults on several communities, resulting in numerous casualties.
