NDLEA Launches Training Program for Drug Counselors

Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), announced a commitment to improving drug demand reduction efforts through a comprehensive training program for its counselors. The training commenced at the NDLEA Academy in Jos, Plateau State, and involves over 100 counselors from various NDLEA formations.

Marwa emphasized the importance of this initiative in revitalizing staff morale and equipping personnel with modern therapeutic tools to address substance use disorders. The training aims to standardize operational protocols, enhance clinical competencies, and align rehabilitation practices with national and international standards.

Key objectives include improving data management for evidence-based policymaking and optimizing rehabilitation outcomes. Marwa described the initiative as a reaffirmation of the Agency’s commitment to professional growth and ensuring quality interventions for clients in NDLEA facilities.
