NDLEA's Marwa Calls for Resilience in Drug War Efforts

On Thursday, at the 12th Chairman and Chief Executive Officer’s Commendations and Awards ceremony held at the NDLEA national headquarters in Abuja, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd.), the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), emphasized the need for resilience among officers in the ongoing fight against illicit drugs. He characterized this battle as a generational responsibility that requires sustained commitment from both the agency's personnel and the broader Nigerian society.

During the ceremony, 274 personnel were honored for their outstanding performance, alongside 18 best-performing commands and 19 non-governmental and media organizations recognized for their contributions to the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) advocacy campaign. Marwa noted the persistent and evolving nature of the drug trade, stating that the agency must remain vigilant.

He highlighted the critical roles of civil society organizations and the media in preventing drug abuse and supporting affected communities, asserting that the anti-drug message has reached homes and schools beyond law enforcement's reach.
