Gov. Makinde Warns Oyo Traditional Rulers Against Politics

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde issued a warning to traditional rulers in the state to refrain from political involvement, asserting that the throne should remain neutral and serve all citizens. He made this statement on Saturday during the first coronation anniversary of Samuel Adegbola, the Eleruwa of Eruwa.

Makinde, who received the chieftaincy title of Aare Asoludero of Ibarapaland at the event, emphasized that traditional rulers who engage in politics would face insults and abuse. He stated that these institutions should accept all political actors without bias to maintain their respect.

Additionally, Makinde, who is the APM flagbearer for the 2027 presidential election, expressed his readiness to travel across Nigeria to garner support for his presidential bid, indicating that his campaign would not be limited to any specific region.
