Labour Party Confirms No Boycott for 2027 Elections

The Labour Party, under the leadership of interim national chairman Nnenadi Usman, declared on Saturday that it will not participate in a boycott of the 2027 elections, countering threats from the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC). Usman made this announcement during the unveiling of the party's registration portal in Abuja.

She emphasized that the Labour Party is focused on addressing the challenges it faced in the 2023 elections, particularly concerning the lack of agents across polling units. Usman highlighted the importance of proper documentation of electoral results to strengthen the party's legal position in case of disputes.

She noted that the party will not rely solely on the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) electronic results transmission but will ensure that agents are present at every polling unit. The Labour Party aims to reinforce its grassroots structures to avoid repeating past mistakes and to ensure representation in all polling units for the upcoming elections.
