Wike Asserts Control Over PDP Ahead of National Convention

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has declared that he is in control of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) machinery. This statement follows a court ruling that nullified the PDP's national convention scheduled for November 15-16, 2025, which was held in Ibadan.

The Federal High Court judgment affirmed the leadership structure led by Abdulrahman Mohammed of the national caretaker committee. Wike has opened the door for reconciliation within the party, urging honesty and sincerity in addressing issues.

He dismissed accusations regarding the role of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in creating divisions within the PDP. Wike emphasized that the logistics for the upcoming national convention, set for March 29-30, are already finalized, and he rejected any suggestions to form a new caretaker committee to appease aggrieved members.

He assured that the convention would proceed, allowing participation from all members, and threatened further legal action if necessary.
