Wike Avoids Discussing Fubara's Second Term Plans

Umar Sani, a chieftain of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), addressed the topic of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara's potential bid for a second term. In an interview with Symfoni TV, Sani conveyed that Nyesom Wike, the former governor and Fubara's predecessor, has made it clear that he does not wish to publicly discuss whether Fubara will seek re-election.

Sani explained that Wike's position appears to be a strategy to avoid early political debates within the party, which could create confusion among supporters. He noted that when political figures begin to discuss future candidacies, it can lead to tensions and divisions within the party, as members may interpret statements differently, potentially weakening party unity.

Sani emphasized the importance of waiting until the time for primary candidacy selection before making any public statements regarding potential contenders.
