Oyo Teachers Killed by Kidnappers During Abduction

In Oyo State, two teachers were killed by kidnappers during an abduction incident. Mr.

Rachael Alamu, the principal of Community High School in Oriire Local Government Area, explained that Mr. Michael Oyedokun, a mathematics teacher, was beheaded, while Mr.

Esiyan Adegboy, aged 49, was shot dead during the invasion on May 22. Alamu spoke to newsmen after the rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers, expressing hope for healing despite the trauma.

She noted that the kidnappers believed they could force the government to meet their demands, as the case had garnered global attention. The victims endured 56 days in the open forest, facing harsh weather conditions.

Alamu mentioned that while she was not physically assaulted, younger pupils suffered severe beatings for making noise. The Oyo State Government and federal authorities successfully secured the release of the abducted individuals, who received medical treatment and psychosocial support at a military hospital in Ibadan.

Governor Seyi Makinde visited the rescued individuals, and Sharafadeen Alli, a gubernatorial candidate, also visited them.
