Oyo Teachers Killed During 56-Day Kidnapping Ordeal

In a tragic incident in Oyo State, two teachers were killed during a kidnapping that lasted 56 days. The principal, Michael Alamu, who was rescued, recounted the brutal treatment endured by the captives, including beatings and harsh weather conditions.

The kidnappers demanded a ransom of N30 million. Governor Seyi Makinde has called for a comprehensive investigation by the United Nations and the Nigerian Army into the abduction of the schoolchildren and teachers, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability.

He reassured the public that every Nigerian child should be able to attend school without fear. The Oyo State Police Command has launched a joint security operation to rescue Mathew Owoad, the headmaster of Nomad Basic School, who was abducted shortly after the initial incident.

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has urged the federal government to strengthen security around schools and ensure justice for the victims.
