Roberto Martinez, the current coach of the Portugal national football team, has announced the exclusion of Cristiano Ronaldo and Bernardo Silva from the squad for upcoming friendly matches against the USA and Mexico. Martinez clarified that Ronaldo's absence is not a short-term issue; he is recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during a match on February 28 while playing for Al Nassr.

Ronaldo has been undergoing treatment in Madrid and is expected to return for the second week of the World Cup. Martinez emphasized that he would not risk Ronaldo's health, especially considering the player's significant physical workload this season.

Additionally, Bernardo Silva was not included in the squad based on medical information provided by Manchester City. The friendly match against Mexico is scheduled for March 28 at Estadio Azteca, followed by a game against the USA in Atlanta on April 1.
