CKay Reveals Why He Dropped Out of University for Music

Chukwuka Ekweani, popularly known as CKay, disclosed during a recent livestream that he dropped out of university at 100 level to pursue his music career. His parents did not approve of his decision to engage in music, prompting him to abscond from home at the age of 19.

After leaving home in Kaduna, he moved to Lagos to chase his passion for music. CKay mentioned that he wrote a long letter to his mother via Blackberry to explain his decision.

While in Lagos, he worked in four different studios to make money and focus on his music. He gained prominence in 2018 with the release of his breakthrough song, and in 2019, his single "Love Nwantiti" became a global hit, breaking African records by hitting a billion streams on Spotify.
