Duhu Urges Clerics to Avoid Partisan Politics in Adamawa

Hon Umar D. Duhu, a political analyst and chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), called for Christian and Muslim clerics in Adamawa State to refrain from engaging in partisan politics.

In an open letter to Rev. Robert Tonborokai Gajere, Duhu criticized the cleric's comments regarding the political situation in the state, particularly the assertion that Christians significantly contributed to the election of Governor Fintiri. He emphasized that religious leaders should act as voices of moderation and unity, especially during politically tense times.

Duhu argued that while clergy have the right to express opinions, they must do so responsibly, avoiding religious and partisan rhetoric. He also condemned inflammatory remarks made by Sheikh Jingir on national television, urging the Nigerian Inter-Religious Council and the National Orientation Agency to denounce such hate speech.

Duhu warned that religious institutions risk losing their moral authority if perceived as politically biased and urged leaders to promote peaceful coexistence.
