DHQ Explains Delay in U.S. Military Support Effects

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) of Nigeria, represented by Director of Defence Media Operations Onoja, clarified on Tuesday that Nigerians have yet to see the effects of American military support due to ongoing security challenges. The DHQ emphasized that the U.S. forces are in a strictly advisory role and are not involved in combat operations.

They noted that the collaboration with the U.S. military, which includes intelligence sharing and specialized training, requires time to yield tangible results. Additionally, the DHQ confirmed the arrival of equipment at Bauchi airfield on February 16, 2026, aimed at supporting Nigeria's counter-terrorism operations.

In light of the upcoming Easter celebrations, the DHQ announced a nationwide alert, placing troops on high alert to prevent potential attacks during the festive period, as similar measures in previous celebrations have proven effective.
