Aiyedatiwa and Tunji-Ojo urged to unite for Tinubu's 2027

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo are politically linked through Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who has significantly influenced their careers. Aiyedatiwa, who survived an impeachment attempt in 2023 due to factional disputes, was supported by Tinubu's intervention, allowing him to succeed the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and secure his own term.

Tunji-Ojo, appointed Minister of Interior in August 2023, gained a national platform, addressing passport backlogs and automating immigration systems. Despite their shared allegiance to Tinubu, Aiyedatiwa and Tunji-Ojo have not aligned their strategies; Aiyedatiwa leverages his incumbency while Tunji-Ojo mobilizes grassroots support through the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu.

APC chairman Babatunde Kolawole has described them as brothers working towards a common goal, though their rivalry has disrupted party consensus arrangements. Cooperation could enhance their effectiveness, as Aiyedatiwa controls the party structure and government machinery, while Tunji-Ojo manages grassroots networks.
