Lagos Government Cannot Prosecute Singer Simi

The Lagos State Government, represented by Lola Vivour Adeniyi, the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, announced that it cannot initiate legal proceedings against popular singer Simi due to the lack of an official complaint from any alleged victim. This statement was made during a television appearance on Thursday.

The controversy surrounding Simi began when an old post from 2012 resurfaced on social media, which included statements that some users deemed inappropriate concerning children. This incident gained traction following a separate rape allegation made by a user named Mirabel on TikTok, who later admitted her claim was false.

Despite Simi's explanation that her post was made when she was 23 years old to support a Mother's Day care center, public pressure continued. The agency has urged anyone with direct knowledge or evidence related to the matter to come forward, emphasizing that legal action cannot commence without proper documentation or formal statements from affected individuals.
