NSCDC Defends 13-Month Quarry Closure in Abuja

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Mining Marshals have justified the 13-month closure of the Stone Rockers Nigeria Limited quarry site in Abuja, asserting it remains a crime scene related to an ongoing criminal case in the Federal High Court. This clarification follows a petition from Stone Rockers Nigeria Limited to President Bola Tinubu, claiming the closure was unlawful and lacked a court order.

NSCDC Commander John Onoja Attah stated that the quarry was sealed due to its status as locus criminis in a case against Stone Rockers and its director, Kolawole Olaiya, under Charge No. FHC/ABM/VR/338/2026 for illegal mining within a mineral title area owned by Lord’s Career Ventures Nigeria Limited.

The case arose from multiple petitions submitted by the complainant over a year, leading to investigations and arrests at specific coordinates within the complainant's licensed mining area. The NSCDC cited substantial documentary evidence, including a letter allegedly containing admissions from a defense team member, to support the prosecution's case.
