Boko Haram Commander's Wife Surrenders to Troops in Borno

On February 26, 2023, Kaltum Dalha, a 25-year-old woman and the wife of a slain Boko Haram commander, surrendered to troops at a forward operating base in Konduga, Borno State. She arrived at the military base at 11:00 AM, accompanied by her two-year-old child, Awana Dalha.

Preliminary investigations revealed that her husband was allegedly in command of the Mairam Buri enclave, which was recently neutralized during a firefight with troops. This incident influenced her decision to surrender.

During interrogations, Kaltum confirmed that Boko Haram had disintegrated following the elimination of its command structure due to intensified military operations against the insurgents in the northeast. These operations have led to the neutralization of several commanders, arrests, and the recovery of arms and ammunition, as well as the surrender of fighters and their family members.
