Wike Approves 1,659 Appointments in FCTA Administration

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, approved the appointment of 1,659 workers within the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA). This decision followed a confirmation examination conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission on February 28, 2026, where a total of 2,281 workers participated.

The chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, reported that 2,512 workers were invited to the examination, but 224 did not appear, raising concerns about their status. The commission clarified that some individuals listed as workers did not actually exist in their system.

The confirmation process is part of Wike's efforts to regularize the employment status of workers within the administration, many of whom have been in service since their initial appointments between 2016 and 2019, with others joining shortly after Wike assumed office in August 2023.
