Wike Commits to FCT Development Amid Election Success

On March 2, 2026, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCTA), reaffirmed his commitment to the development of the FCT, emphasizing the importance of providing vital infrastructure to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every corner of the territory. During a media briefing in Abuja, Wike highlighted his engagement with rural communities upon assuming office and solicited their support for the current administration's promise of massive infrastructure development.

He announced a tour of the entire FCT area councils and thanked the people for their support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly following the recent area council elections. Wike dismissed claims from the opposition regarding interference in the elections, asserting that the All Progressives Congress (APC) won five out of six council seats.

He also noted that he visited 10 out of 3,000 polling units to observe the electoral process, emphasizing that there is no provision in law preventing candidates from visiting polling units on election day.
