PDP NEC Meeting Set Amid Crisis Over Anyanwu's Expulsion

This meeting occurs against the backdrop of a crisis involving the faction led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, which has called for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to cease recognizing Samuel Anyanwu as a member.

A recent judgment from the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory has affirmed Anyanwu's expulsion from the party, which his legal team, led by Abdulaziz Ibrahim, is appealing. The court's ruling indicates that Anyanwu can no longer act on behalf of the PDP.

The NEC meeting is expected to address the implications of this judgment and discuss the timeline for conducting primaries for the 2027 general elections. Wike expressed optimism that the Supreme Court will uphold the High Court's decision, allowing the party to proceed with its activities.
