Wike Denies Lobbying for APC Campaign DG Position

Barr. Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, has refuted claims from certain media outlets suggesting he was seeking the position of Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).

Wike expressed his unwavering support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that he does not require the DG role or membership in the campaign council to contribute to the President's success in Rivers State and the FCT. The allegations arose from reports listing him among prominent party figures allegedly lobbying for the DG position.

In a statement relayed by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike clarified that he had not engaged in discussions regarding the campaign council's leadership. He mentioned he was currently outside Nigeria, taking a break after over 30 days of project commissioning and inspections, and emphasized his commitment to enhancing the President's electoral prospects upon his return.
