Wike Allocates Land to FCT Traditional Rulers, Waives Fees

During a ceremony held on Friday, Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), honored traditional rulers by allocating parcels of land and approving a waiver for statutory fees associated with land titles. Wike explained that this decision follows a directive from the President and aims to recognize the contributions of indigenous people to the creation of the FCT.

He emphasized the importance of traditional rulers in ensuring peace within the area councils and pledged to provide utility vehicles to assist them in their duties. Wike also highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects across satellite towns, including the dualization of the airport road, Kuje road, and Bwari-Zuba link road.

He stressed that it is unfair to expect traditional rulers to raise large sums to pay for land occupied by their ancestors, hence the waiver of the statutory fee. Ona Abaji, the Chairman of the FCT Council, expressed gratitude for the support and assured continued collaboration with traditional institutions.
