Wike Critiques Bode George's Electoral Failures

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, expressed no regrets about blocking Bode George from becoming the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He described George as a "failed politician" who has not secured any electoral victories for the PDP in Lagos State since 1999.

In a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike noted that George's frustration stemmed from the emergence of Deji Doherty as a party leader in Lagos. Wike recounted a past visit to George's home in Abuja, where he was nearly turned away by George's wife.

He criticized George for failing to win even his own polling unit, citing specific electoral results from the 2019 and 2023 elections. Wike stated that the leadership of a political party should be based on the ability to win elections, asserting that George is "a complete disaster" in this regard.
