Wike Nullifies Over 400 Land Titles in Abuja

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, announced the nullification of over 400 land titles in Abuja, following a comprehensive screening exercise conducted by the Department of Land Administration in collaboration with the Abuja Geographic Information System (AGIS). The affected documents failed authenticity checks and were confirmed to be fake.

A public notice was issued on Monday, marking the invalidation of applications that did not pass necessary official verification. The cancellation affects several area councils, including Bwari Area Council, impacting locations such as Ushafa Village, Dawaki, and Kurudu.

This action is part of ongoing land administration reforms by the FCTA, which aims to address long-standing challenges, including fraudulent documents and double allocations. Since 2006, 8,287,261 land documents have been submitted for screening, with only 3.2% verified as valid, leaving 253,627 applications pending clearance.
