Wike Orders Demolition of Illegal Structures in Abuja

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has issued an order for the demolition of illegal structures erected on diplomatic lands in Abuja. This directive was announced following an inspection tour of several ongoing infrastructure projects, including road works linking Wuse to the central area.

Wike expressed outrage over unauthorized developments by various embassies, stating that some individuals have taken land and commenced construction without the approval of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA). He emphasized that such land invasions cannot be tolerated and vowed to prosecute offenders.

The FCT administration has begun notifying missions possessing allocated land and will carry out investigations, with the police already involved in arresting individuals for charges that will be brought to court. Wike described the infrastructure drive as part of efforts to improve connectivity across the capital, particularly in residential areas like Tungan Madaki.
