Wike Orders Arrest Over Illegal Buildings in Abuja

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has ordered the arrest of Kabiru Sahara for erecting illegal structures on federally allocated land in Abuja's diplomatic zone. This action was disclosed during an inspection tour of ongoing infrastructure projects in Abuja.

The illegal constructions affect land allocated for diplomatic missions, which includes embassies from countries such as Thailand, Bulgaria, Syria, Somalia, Serbia, Montenegro, Japan, Austria, Switzerland, Senegal, and Palestine. The land was originally allocated on March 18, 2008, for diplomatic residential purposes.

The FCT Administration has begun notifying the diplomatic missions regarding the illegal structures. Wike confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and the suspect will be arrested and prosecuted.

The minister also inspected several infrastructure projects, including the redesign of the Abuja City Gate and the extension of Zuba Road linking Baze University.
